Igara East MP Mbwatekamwa Gaffa has explained why he changes his candidature after each term, stating that to serve the people satisfactorily, a political leader only needs one term. According to him, anyone who stays beyond that is driven by personal interests.
Mbwatekamwa is currently serving his second term in Parliament. He served his first term as the MP for Kasambya County in Mubende District and is now the MP for Igara East in Bushenyi District.
Looking ahead to 2026, he has declared his intention to contest for the position of Mayor of Mbarara City.
Our reporter, Juma Kiirya, caught up with him to understand what informs this decision.
