Once displaced from their ancestral home in Bwindi forest, part of the minority Batwa community in Ruhija, Mpungu sub-county in Kanungu district is now reclaiming its heritage by spearheading a major restoration drive through replanting Indigenous trees and cleaning up conservation zones, in a bid to revive the ecosystem and safeguard their cultural legacy.
