Data from the Uganda Bureau of Statistics indicates that 13 out of 100 children are born with physical disabilities.
However, members of the Uganda Society for Disabled Children dispute the figure, saying it’s higher than what UBOS presented.
Dolorence Were, the leader of the organization, says that some disabilities are not easy to detect. She was speaking at the launch of Kitchen Soup Day at St. Ponsiano Catholic Church in Salaama, Makindye. The effort is intended to ensure that parents appreciate the need to provide children with physical disabilities with specialized food.
