EAC secretariat defends Tanzania’s order on foreigners

The East African Community Secretariat is currently analyzing the level of compliance with obligations made by partner states to promote the Common Market Protocol. This analysis comes in response to Tanzania’s recent order restricting non-citizens from participating in certain small-scale business activities within the country. In an exclusive interview with NTV’s DANIEL KIBET, the Secretary General of the EAC, Veronica Nduva, emphasised that while the EAC countries are united as a community, each state maintains its sovereignty, and internal laws and policies must be respected.
