The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, Eng. Irene Pauline Batebe has called on successful women across the country to support and empower the girl child to pursue science subjects, in a bid to close the gender gap in STEM fields.
She made the remarks during a fundraising dinner organized by the MerryHill High School Mbarara Old Students Association. The event aimed to raise funds for the construction of a girls’ dormitory at the school.
King Ceaser Mulenga, founder of King Ceaser University and Vietnam’s Honorary Consul to Uganda, donated Shs 50 million in cash and pledged an additional Shs 100 million towards the cause.
