As the population grows, human beings are encroaching on wildlife habitats, leading to increased interactions with wild animals. This has resulted in damage to property, loss of livelihoods, and loss of life for both animals and humans. In Kabarole District, residents of Nyabinyonyi and Nyabweya B Zone villages in Kasenda Sub-county are raising fresh concerns over frequent invasions by wild animals from Kibale National Park. With destroyed gardens, disrupted livelihoods, and children pulled out of school to scare away stray animals from gardens, families say the situation is becoming increasingly difficult to manage. Betty Mudondo brings us this story.
