Kyagulanyi downplays Independence day celebrations

National Unity Platform presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu on Thursdya took his campaign trail to Nakaseke District, where he downplayed the significance of Uganda’s 63rd Independence Day celebrations, arguing that there was little to celebrate. He added that the country remains gripped by political repression, a weakened justice system, and a lack of genuine democracy. He pointed out that of the 63 years since independence, 40 have been dominated by the same regime, which he claims has deprived Ugandans of true freedom. NTV’s David Ijjo reports.
