Lack of witness protection law hampers crime fight in Uganda

Lack of a witness protection law is frustrating efforts to tackle criminality in Uganda, according to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and crusaders against corruption. The Assistant Director of Public Prosecution, Charles Richard Kamuli, says that many cases are collapsing because witnesses are hesitant to step forward due to the lack of a protection mechanism. He, however, says that efforts are underway through the Office of the Attorney General to review an old bill to take into account emerging cybercrime.
