A Kampala-based lawyer has petitioned the High Court’s Civil Division, seeking for the nullification of a restitution of conjugal rights law under the Uganda’s Divorce Act Steven Kalali argues that the law is outdated, unconstitutional, and violates fundamental human rights guaranteed under the 1995 Constitution.
In his application filed against the Attorney General, Kalali contends that the decree allowing a spouse to compel the other to resume marital cohabitation amounts to degrading and inhuman treatment in a modern democratic society.
