The arts and humanities teachers, under the umbrella body of the Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU), have finally suspended their strike. This decision follows the official communication from the Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, recalling the committees on education and sports, public service, and local government from recess. They have been tasked with urgently addressing the teachers’ issues within 14 days. This development comes after the teachers have been on strike for 32 days due to the government’s failure to increase their salaries to match those of their counterparts.
