Thirteen EAC member states join forces to tackle rebel activity

Thirteen member states of the East African Community have joined forces to create standard operating procedures for non-military measures to combat rebel groups in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These efforts aim to address negative forces and armed groups through peaceful means of disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration. At least five countries, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi, and the DRC, are directly impacted by over 100 armed rebel groups primarily operating in the eastern and northeastern regions of the DRC
