Vipers Sports Club began their Premier League title defence with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over hosts Entebbe UPPC Football Club in a Ugandan Premier League match held at the Fisheries Grounds, Bugonga. Karim Watambala scored the lone goal of the game in the 62nd minute, connecting with a well-placed pass from Yunus Sentamu. The reigning champions, who had fallen behind due to earlier league boycotts and international commitments, needed to secure a win to demonstrate their determination right from the start.
