Is the Uganda's education system outdated? | MorningAtNTV
The Ugandan education system has evolved through different stages since colonial times. However, the philosophy and methodology upon which it was built have become obsolete and irrelevant to the needs of contemporary society. Therefore, the philosophy, school system, methods of instruction, curriculum, measurement, and assessment are calling for revisiting. The government responded to this by initiating a shakeup in the curriculum of lower-level secondary education. However, for higher institutions of learning, challenges have emerged, as Professor Mary Ojakwol, Executive Director of the National Council for Higher Education, rejected the reappointment of Professor Elly Katunguka as Council Chairperson. Many educationists anticipate this will impact the accreditation and reaccreditation of courses in higher institutions. Today, we delve into the education system of the country and the waves it has shaped. We discussed with Mouhammad Mpezamihigo, Vice Chancellor of Equator University of Science and Technology, Lawrence Muganga, Vice Chancellor of Victoria University, and Elly Katunguka, Vice Chancellor of Kyambogo University, whom Stephen Mbidde spoke to earlier. Let's hear all they have to say on the current situation at NCHE, and we will return with the panel.
