Trade Minister urges businesses to invest more
Minister of Trade, Francis Mwebesa, has called on manufacturers and producers to invest a little more of their capital into quality packaging, not only to ensure steady market access, but also to safeguard consumers and protect the environment. His remarks came during an MSME training session held in Kampala, aimed at equipping Ugandan producers with modern packaging skills to meet global standards.Globally, a significant portion of food is lost due to poor packaging, according to Prof. Pierre Pienaar, President of the World Packaging Organisation, who emphasized the need for Africa to adopt sustainable, high-quality packaging practices to reduce waste and enhance product value.
