COMMERCIAL ASSET LEASING: Absence of law discouraging investment
Uganda’s financial sector continues to transact huge volumes of money in the asset leasing business, perhaps one of the most profitable ventures in terms of portfolio, but all this without a guiding law. Adad Iraguha, Head of Commercial Asset Finance at Absa says despite numerous opportunities in this investment arm, investors are still shying away as a result of a vacuum in regulation, financial institutions such as ABSA for instance is are urging the government to expedite the passing of the leasing law.
