Besigye and Lutale retuned to prison , lawyers want High Court to issue release order
Dr. Kizza Besigye and his aide, Haji Obeid Lutale, will remain in detention after High Court Justice Douglas Singiza postponed a ruling on their release to no later than Tuesday next week. Their lawyers had filed a petition on February 5, demanding an explanation from the Attorney General and the Commissioner General of Prisons on why the two remain in custody despite the Supreme Court's annulment of the trial of civilians in military courts. However, as Daniel Kibet reports, neither the Attorney General nor the Commissioner General appeared in court today, though the former was represented.
