Activists ask government to protect Karamoja residents
Land rights activists have asked the government to take concrete steps to protect the people of Karamoja regarding their rights on land as mining activities increase in the region. A report by Green Deal, a land and extractives rights agency that has been launched, indicates that there is lack of adequate compensation, environmental degradation and lack of compliance for laws that protect people's land rights and extractives on land.
