Climate finance: government under scrutiny for missing progress reports
A climate specialist and head of the Society of Environmental and Climate Finance Professionals has asked the Ministry of Finance to expedite the findings on the utilization of billions of shillings in climate finance flows over the past 10 years. Dr. Denis Tukahikaho, the Acting President of the Society for Environmental & Climate Finance Professionals, also says that even with the existence of a policy framework for climate mitigation, there is inadequate collective reporting. He opines that this has been holding billions of climate funding away and deterring investors in the sector. Additionally, he has also called for the URA to tax carbon emissions.
