ELECTION PETITION: Court cannot be intimidated by idle talk, Chief Justice tells Kyagulanyi
Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny has cautioned the President of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu against utterances, he said were intended to intimidate and blackmail the Justices of the Supreme Court and the Judiciary in general. Justice Owiny Dollo said that the Presidential election petition that Kyagulanyi filed in the Supreme Court will only be decided based on the evidence presented before the court and not what he called idle talk in the media. The Chief Justice was responding to remarks by Kyagulanyi who had informally asked said Chief Justice Owiny Dollo and two other Justices to withdraw from hearing the petition, allegedly because they had a conflict of interest.
