Health workers often describe natural childbirth as one of the most painful experiences, with some comparing it to severe burns or having a body part severed without pain relief. As a result, many expectant mothers, particularly those who can afford it, are opting for Caesarean sections, despite potential complications. To explore this, we’re joined by Dr. Nicholas Mugagga, a medical consultant at Lubaga Hospital and St. Joseph Hospital, to discuss labour analgesia, a growing practice in Uganda, though widely used in countries like the United States.
