Minister confirms Bank of Uganda account hacking
The State Minister of Finance in charge of General Duties, Henry Musasizi, has confirmed the hacking of Bank of Uganda accounts, leading to the theft of billions of shillings. However, Musasizi described the reported amount as exaggerated. This followed a query raised by the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, seeking the government's explanation for the reported loss of over 60 billion shillings in the incident. Parliament has given the minister one month to provide a comprehensive statement on the progress of investigations into the matter.
