Rights defenders want law to protect them
As Uganda joins the rest of the world to commemorate International Human Rights Defenders Day, human rights activists have asked the government to enact a law that can be used as redress in case of the breach of the fundamental rights of others. Robert Ssempala, a human rights defender at the National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders, says they are operating in a vacuum that creates a lot of uncertainty for the defenders themselves.
