Sunflower farmers say imported seeds are expensive
Farmers whose specialty is sunflower growing have decried the high price of sunflower seed, which is imported from countries like South Africa. They say imported seed is expensive, making the business unprofitable. There are over 350,000 farmers who grow sunflowers in Uganda. They want the government to invest in sunflower seed breeding technology as well as setting up marketing and value-addition centers.
