Two Justice Movement Members arrested protesting EACOP at EU Offices
Police have arrested two members of the Justice Movement Uganda who marched to the European Union offices in Kampala this morning to protest the planned construction of the East African Crude Oil Pipeline from Hoima to eastern Tanzania. The protesters claim that the pipeline is likely to have a negative impact on the environment and people's livelihoods. Although opponents of the pipeline have lost legal attempts in international courts, local protesters regularly stage demonstrations, hoping for a different outcome but in vain.
