Uganda plans abattoirs to halt live animal movement
The Ministry of Agriculture plans to stop the movement of live animals in the country to prevent the transmission of animal diseases. The Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Bright Rwamirama, stated that the government will establish abattoirs in various parts of the county to enable sector players to transport beef instead of live animals to the market. He was handing over additional doses of foot and mouth disease vaccine to district veterinary officers in Entebbe.
