UPDF monitors Eastern DRC tensions amid M23 capture of Goma
The Uganda People's Defence Forces (UPDF) says it is monitoring the situation in eastern DRC in the unlikely event that the war spills over into Ugandan territory. UPDF spokesperson Brig. Felix Kulayigye says the army is closely watching events in Goma, and necessary precautions have been put in place to safeguard Uganda’s territory, as the fighting is occurring 500 kilometers away from the border. All of this comes amid reports that the M23 armed group has captured Goma City, even as fighting between the rebels and Congolese troops continues
