World mourns the passing of His Highness Aga Khan IV
Today, the world mourns the passing of His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini, Aga Khan IV, the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslims, who passed away on Tuesday in Lisbon, Portugal, at the age of 88. Prince Karim became the Aga Khan in 1957 at just 20 years old, following the passing of his grandfather. For more than six decades, he was dedicated to improving lives worldwide through the Aga Khan Development Network, a global initiative focusing on social, economic, and cultural advancement. In Uganda, his impact has been profound. Through the Aga Khan Foundation, early childhood education programs have benefited communities across the country, improving school readiness and academic performance.
