President Museveni has urged the church to participate in wealth creation instead of solely leading impoverished communities. In a speech read by Koboko Municipality Member of Parliament Dr. Charles Ayume during a church fundraising event for St. Paul’s Church in Koboko, the President highlighted instances where churches in Uganda own large parcels of unproductive land. During the event, he donated 30 million shillings towards the church’s completion, which still requires an additional 1.1 billion shillings.
