Veteran politician and his co-accused brought to high court

Meanwhile, away from campaigns and into the courts, veteran opposition politician Dr. Kiiza Besigye has this morning appeared before the High Court to answer to treason charges. He, together with his aide Hajji Obeid Lutale, are accused of plotting to overthrow the government between 2023 and last year. Besigye has been in detention since his dramatic arrest in Kenya last November. Besigye is accused of holding meetings in Switzerland, Greece and Kenya between 2023 and November last year in a plot to overturn the government. Besigye and Lutale are charged alongside Denis Oola, a military officer.
