Highland farmers battle poor roads to save perishable harvests

The highlands of Kigezi, Rwenzori, and Elgon serve as major food baskets for Uganda and the region. However, farmers struggle to move produce from their gardens to markets in the lowlands. Poor road networks and steep terrain mean the journey can take three to four days, costing farmers both time and millions in lost value. With most of the harvests being perishable, the race against time is constant, Collins Muhwezi reports.
