Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister Charles Peter Mayiga has weighed in and appealed to authorities to ensure that the affected traders are properly compensated after heavy rainfall triggered flash floods that left most basements in downtown Kampala submerged. During a press briefing at Bulange-Mengo, Mayiga expressed his condolences to the victims, some of whom not only lost property but also loved ones. This week, the Kampala Capital City Authority assured traders whose merchandise was destroyed in Friday’s floods that the government will compensate them.
