The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has formally advertised the position of Chief Justice, Alfonse Owiny-Dollo, whose tenure as head of Uganda’s judiciary is coming to an end when he turns 70 years old in January.
The fate of inmates like Geofrey Kazinda, a former Principal Accountant in the Office of the Prime Minister who was convicted on, among other counts, illicit enrichment contrary to the Anti-Corruption Act, now hangs in the balance.
His family, through their lawyers Omongole & Company Advocates, petitioned the office of the Chief Justice over the prolonged stay in jail of their relative without a judgment by the Supreme Court.
