The ongoing teachers’ strike has intensified, with the Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU) rejecting an ultimatum from the Minister of Public Service, Wilson Muruli Mukasa, to end the strike within a week or face dismissal. The standoff threatens to disrupt upcoming promotional exams and may lead to a mass departure of teachers from public schools if not resolved.

The Minister of Public Service emphasized that 2.5 trillion shillings has been assigned to financial enhancement, placing teachers’ welfare as a priority in the government’s commitment, as Beata Muwema reports.
