TAX PAYMENTS SURGE:Stanbic Uganda h1 profit climbs 18%

Stanbic Uganda Holdings Ltd. posted an 18% rise in half-year profit after tax to Ushs 278 billion, bolstered by growth across corporate, retail, and investment banking. The lender, a unit of Standard Bank Group, also paid Ushs 273 billion in taxes in the period to June, up 37% from a year earlier, underscoring its role as one of the country’s biggest contributors to government revenue.
