UNBS to utilise private laboratories to carry out tests

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards says demand for its services has outstripped capacity. To ease the pressure, the Bureau is accrediting private and factory-based laboratories that meet its requirements, a move aimed at promoting self-regulation and reducing bottlenecks. Deputy Executive Director Patricia Bageine-Ejalu says several private labs have already been recognized to carry out testing and calibration, with their results now valid for certification.
