The faithful in and out of Uganda have since Monday, April 21 been in a sombre mood following the demise of a man of God who many have described as simple, a peace lover, and defender of vulnerable groups of people at a global level.

Church leaders, believers, and members of the wider community have come together in prayer and remembrance, honoring a life dedicated to service, humility, and advocacy. The late Francis touched many lives across continents through his commitment to social justice, interfaith dialogue, and the gospel message of compassion.

Special masses and vigils are being organized across parishes, with Uganda’s Catholic community joining millions worldwide in mourning and reflection. His passing has prompted renewed calls for unity and continued service to the marginalized—values he embodied throughout his ministry.

As prayers rise for the repose of his soul, believers are also celebrating the legacy he leaves behind: one of simplicity, humanity, and tireless dedication to the betterment of society.
