Efforts by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) leadership in Rukungiri District to reconcile party flag bearers and independent-leaning candidates have ended in vain. Independent candidates reportedly refused to step down in favor of party flag bearers. The reconciliation meeting, held at Riverside Hotel in Rukungiri Municipality, was aimed at uniting the party ahead of the nomination of candidates slated for tomorrow and Thursday.
