MPs raise a red flag over endless loans to finance projects

Uganda’s escalating public debt has once again taken centre stage in Parliament, as the government seeks approval from MPs for three new loan requests. However, some lawmakers have raised concerns, warning that unchecked borrowing risks pushing the country into financial distress, where future loans may be used primarily to service existing debts instead of funding development projects.
