Uganda’s women leaders celebrate 30 years of Beijing conference

Women in leadership across Africa have celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Conference, which gave birth to the women’s emancipation movement worldwide. During the colorful event in Kampala, veteran politicians called for unity and strict observance of the ethical values that secured rights and leadership space for the African girl child decades ago. The call comes amid preparations for the 2026 general election, with reports of some budding politicians allegedly being blocked from participating in the race.
