The ruling NRM party has allayed fears that, following the Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections—which saw several bigwigs lose—the disgruntled candidates could destabilize the party.

Last evening marked the final session of the 4th National Conference of the NRM at Kololo Independence Grounds, where Secretary General Richard Todwong announced the new top leadership, which saw much of the old guard replaced.

The party maintains that it has mechanisms in place to manage any discontent among poll losers and ensure internal stability.
