The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries (MAAIF) has reviewed the 2025 Joint Agro-Industrialization Programme after five years, highlighting progress made in post-harvest handling and a 6.8% growth in value addition. It was noted that agricultural exports have also increased, rising from USD 2.3 billion to USD 4.4 billion, thanks to improvements in value addition.
According to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Maj. Gen. David Kyomukama, this growth is attributed to the empowerment of local producers.
