: More needed for better performance

Uganda’s tourism sector remains a vital pillar of the national economy, driving growth, creating jobs, and boosting foreign exchange earnings. In 2024 alone, the sector generated UGX 4.8 trillion, contributing 5.7% to the national GDP.

However, despite this impressive performance, growth has slowed to a modest 5% in 2025, raising questions about the sector’s long-term momentum and sustainability.
