There is a section of lawyers planning to bring a case to the Constitutional Court to have the provision on unlawful drilling in the Penal Code repealed. This comes after several members of the National Unity Platform Party were arrested in recent days and are now facing charges related to unauthorized drills that resemble military maneuvers. The lawyers argue that the law on unlawful drilling was established by the colonial administration and is not in line with the 1995 Ugandan Constitution.
