In various countries, including liberal democracies, there is a concerning trend of democratic backsliding, where leaders undermine institutions meant to check their power. Despite these challenges, there are signs of resistance among youth, though it often faces significant obstacles. The debate on democratic backsliding and resistance focuses on strategies to counteract authoritarianism, from legal challenges to mass protests. However, there remains skepticism among young people globally, with declining trust in governments and participation in democratic processes.
