Insurance sector raises nearly a trillion shillings in H1 2024
A report by the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) shows that insurance companies in Uganda raised nearly a trillion shillings in gross written premiums in the first half of 2024, with non-life insurance contributing the largest portion of sector income, posting shs542.3 billion. Meanwhile, microinsurance underperformed. The Chief Executive of the sector regulator, Ibrahim Kaddunabi, says the focus is now on forming partnerships to develop innovations that will help deepen market penetration.
