Kasaija urges tax support for budget success
Finance Minister Matia Kasaija has sounded a cautious note ahead of the 2025/26 financial year, warning that the current government sector-targeted strategies alone won’t be enough to ensure budget success. Speaking at the launch of National Budget Month, the minister called for stronger public support for tax measures and greater voluntary compliance—key steps he says are vital if Uganda is to cut its reliance on borrowing and take full ownership of its development path.
