KILEMBE MINES: USD236M needed for a return to business
An estimated 236 million dollars will be required to revive Kilembe Mines, Uganda’s largest and once the most important mineral deposit of copper ore, but whose infrastructure has since been washed away by floodwaters and years of mismanagement. Now as the government searches for another investor, several issues must be addressed to revamp the facility, estimated to have 4 million tonnes of copper ore beneath.
