30-year old facility serving vulnerable communities
The Ministry of Health recognizes Kiwoko Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as a centre of excellence in newborn health. The Unit has 38 beds with the commonest cause of admission to the unit being prematurity. When the NICU was first opened in 2000, it was referred to as the Special Care Baby Unit. It admits more than 1200 babies every year.
