Bugisu Cooperative Union wants UGX 222 billion from government to make instant coffee
The Bugisu Cooperative Union Board is requesting a $60 million loan from the government to acquire a solar-powered machine aimed at adding value to coffee production. The board's management plans to repay the loan over 10 years as they expand their capacity through increased production.
This request follows reports that farmers are demanding an increase in the price of coffee, pushing for a rise from 12,800 to 20,000 shillings per kilogram.
