Bunyoro kingdom prepares to mark 31 years of Omukama Iguru’s coronation
The Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom has begun preparations to commemorate the 31st anniversary of the coronation of the Omukama of Bunyoro, Dr. Solomon Gafabusa Iguru. The Omukama ascended the throne at Karuziika Royal Palace in Hoima City on June 11th, 1994, following the restoration of cultural institutions. The Omuhikirwa of Bunyoro, Andrew Byakutaaga, says several activities have been organized to mark the occasion. These include the Empango Marathon, intended to raise funds for the purchase of cancer diagnostic equipment for Hoima Regional Referral Hospital, as well as a trade fair.
